A individual indicted with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has repeatedly declared she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard call records and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and remains unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

Another recorded message, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Is that not important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a life here in Poland, I only wish to understand," she added.

The panel was told that through electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent early photographs to her phone in a effort to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the evidence, told the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On that date, Gerry McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a association through digital means with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' property in the county in December 2024.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had reached out via messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the period leading up to the visit to Rothley, that area, in that winter.
