Chalobah Expected to Step in for Guehi in Three Lions National Team

Chelsea defender playing for England

The Chelsea star emulated his brother Nathaniel in representing England, emerging as the 21st pair of brothers to play for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is likely to join up with the England squad to replace unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to join the squad for England's remaining World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, but it has not yet been confirmed.

The Three Lions have already qualified for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah received his initial selection under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be omitted from the selection for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and also didn't call him up for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an significant figure in Chalobah's development, having given him his Chelsea first-team bow in 2021.

Chalobah has featured in almost every games for Chelsea this season, with the side occupying third spot in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the European competition.

Guehi sustained a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over the Dutch side last week.

There are set to be additional additions to the squad. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has announced that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) are set to pull out from the England setup.
