Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
