Chopper Spins Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Coast
A chopper hovering over a crowded coastal shoreline suddenly commenced twirling uncontrollably, finally losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm trees as beachgoers looked on.
Videos posted on the internet depict the aircraft starting to spin above the shoreline then descending in the direction of the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged amidst palms and a set of stairs near the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
Local firefighters said five people were rushed to the hospital including two who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on the weekend.
Three persons on the road were hurt. Details on their condition were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
