Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Find the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found plenty of interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer lets you play a character that is truly a turd trying to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is straightforward: you only need a jump control. Across one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face tough enemies and visit a shop to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Plan your movements precisely, as a wrong move forces beginning again. Leap off floating orbs to launch yourself to new heights, navigate fragile platforms, and interact with triggers to open secret routes. Collect coins and use them on tougher levels in which the action gets crazy.
In terms of design, the game boasts eye-catching level designs and a killer background music. Its minimalist visual style with moving basic polygons evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's hard to recall similar titles where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment often incorporated toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft explosives from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. And of course, this theme is present extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its silly concept, Unko Technica has already received impressive awards, like being named best at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the final release planned to debut on Steam in the fall.
